                                               Description : This is a very dangerous trek in the sense that the river crossings are bad until mid August
                                               when waters subside. The trek starts at the village of  Padum and heads north to the village of Zangla
                                               before diverting from the Zanskar valley to Cha Cha La at 4950 mtrs. Heading north from Cha Cha La the
                                               trail enters a series of dramatic gorges that support rare wildlife including Brown bear, Bharal (wild hima-
                                               layan sheep) and snow leapord. It takes a minimum of two stages from here to reach Rubrang La ( 5020
                                               mtrs ) and the crest of the Zanskar range before a steady descent to the village of  the Markha valley. From
                                               Markha village it takes a further three stages to cross Kongmaru La (5030 mtrs) to Hemis Gompa and 
                                               the Indus valley.
