Description : This route has been a favorite with many trekkers but has also been tragic for those who
have been caught by storms while crossing the Shingo La (4980 mtrs). Acclimatisation will not be needed
as the stages to the Shingo La provide time to adjust. The trek starts at the village of Padum and passes
thru the villages of Bardan, Reru, Surie, Purne, Phugtal, Tetha, karu, Tanze, Kargyak, Lakong, Shingo La,
chumik, Jankar, Sumdo, Palamo and finishes at Darcha. Just before Chumik the trail crosses the Shingo
La pass. An extra day will be spent wandering the valley opposite Kargyak. The valley affords spectacular
views of the glaciers and snow fields of the Himalayan range.
